I started hunting when I was 9 years old. In these many years of enjoying the outdoors all over North America, I've gained a healthy respect for just how dangerous the sport of hunting can be. The obvious danger of being maimed or killed by a hot piece of lead is always lurking, even when surrounded by experienced hunters. To err is human. The real danger is the biting bugs that carry infectious diseases like lyme disease, the plague, or typhus. I've learned a lot about America's infectious disease problem while providing medical services to the US Border Patrol along the southern border from Brownsville, Texas to San Diego, California. I've also learned that hunters are vulnerable to these diseases by being in close proximity to wild game when cleaning animals, walking down game trails, and eating their flesh. The two animals with the physiology most similar to a human's are the pig and bear. If a parasite is happy in them, it'll be happy in you! Applying permethrin spray to your clothing, boots, socks, hat..., will protect you on the trails and from critters crawling off of game animals in search of a warm body. Also, apply picaridin 20% or DEET 40% to your exposed skin. Remember, many tick or mosquitoe borne infectious diseases are associated with an unexplained rash. If you become exposed to a tick bite, use doxycycline 100mg tablets twice daily, found in your Essential Antibiotic kit, by 1st Aid Pharmacy. We have antibiotics that treat anthrax (found in West Texas), the plague, cat scratch disease, tularemia, infected cuts, and many more bacterial infections that hunters may come across afield, as well as many amoeba infections like giardia. The Pathogen kit contains treatment for various worm infections like ascaris, tape worms, flukes and more, all of which can be found in some wild game. Protect yourself and keep from spreading game-borne infectious diseases to your loved ones. Know how to identify these infections via their signs and symptoms and have a 1st Aid Pharmacy FUEM kit ready to treat them immediately.

Thank you for trusting us with your future use emergency medicine needs.

Warm regards,
