Drug Facts: the vestibular system helps us keep our balance and is found in the inner ear. It can become disrupted either by trapped fluids or when our eyes tell our brain that our place in time and space conflicts with what is reported by our vestibular system. If these two signals don't jive, nausea, vomiting, and a whole host of body functions can degrade; known as motion sickness. Because the scopolamine patch is applied to the skin behind the ear (close to the vestibular system), the drug stays in the local area, not affecting other body functions.
